Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent voids from being generated in printed images at a joint part between two heads and enable favorable printing, by setting a printing- ending position of one of a plurality of thermal heads and a printing-starting position of the next head so as to overlap with each other. CONSTITUTION:A printing signal Vs is not supplied in the state of being continuous for a one-scanning-line amount, but it is divided into portions for predetermined numbers of dots, and the portions are simultaneously supplied to a thermal head-operating circuit 18. In the direction of an arrow C, a head 9a prints the 1st-10th dots, whereas a head 9b prints the 10th-19th dots. Thus, the 10th dot is doubly printed by both of the heads 9a and 9b, and the 19th dot is also doubly printed in a similar manner. Therefore, even where a mechanical error is present between the two heads, formation of voids in a printed image due to a positional error in the thermal heads at a joint part of printing is obviated, and favorable printing can be performed.
