Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce differences in printed density, by a method wherein printing scanning directions of a plurality of thermal heads arranged on one scanning line are alternately set, and printing starting positions of the adjacent thermal heads are located adjacently whereas printing finishing positions of the adjacent thermal heads are located adjacently. CONSTITUTION:A recorder comprises three thermal heads 9a-9c, which are scanningly moved on a thermal recording paper 6 by the equal distance, thereby printing in one line. At the time of a forward movement, the heads 9a and 9c are supplied with a printing signal, while the head 9b is not supplied with the printing signal. At the time of a backward movement, the heads 9a and 9b are not supplied with the printing signal, while the head 9b is supplied with the printing signal. Therefore, the printing finishing position of the head 9a and the printing finishing position of the head 9b are located adjacently to each other, whereas the printing starting position of the head 9b and the printing starting position of the head 9c are located adjacently to each other. Since boundaries of printing at which printing with an equal density is conducted by the adjacent heads are located adjacently, apparent differences in density are reduced.
