Abstract

The IC engine consists of four pistons (4) mounted in a circular configuration in cylinders in a block (2). The connecting rods (6) are carried on bearings (20, 22) below and above the rim of a cam- shaped wheel (10) which transforms the linear motion of the pistons to a circular one along the shaft (3) which has its axis parallel to the pistons. The profile of the cam is arranged to give the four strobe cycle in one revolution of the wheel. The profile of the cam allows for a longer inlet period and a shorter compression time. Inlet and exhaust valves (11) are operated by pushrods (13) operated by a secondary rotary cam (15).
