Abstract

The electrical connector has free and fixed parts carrying sprung or fixed electrodes or pins such that as the two are mated contact is established. Contact is maintained by one contact being spring loaded and butted against the second contact. The connector is designed to allow connection purely by an axial movement of the free part rather than a push and twist action. Correct location of the two parts is established by one or more radial key elements and maintenance of coupling is by ball bearings moving between separate rest positions for the coupled and uncoupled states against the pressure of circumferential springs.
