Abstract

The road vehicle speed limiter has a multi position switch (8). When the selected speed has been reached a mechanical governor (2) in the speedometer acts on contacts (7) fed by the switch (8). This then actuates an electro valve (1) in the engine oil pressure circuit. The valve feeds oil to a bellows (4) which can be deformed and acts on the accelerator cable, connected to the butterfly valve control (6). Oil flow from the bellows is via a strangler valve (5). The overall effect is that vehicle speed is maintained at the desired level.
