Abstract

A distribution box (1) has two discharge ducts (2) at one end and two entry ports (5) opposite each other on opposite faces of the box. A fan (6) is connected via ducts to each entry port. On a central axis (4) between the entry ports is mounted a butterfly vane (3) which may be rotated in either direction to take up diagonal attitudes across the two ports in its extreme positions. In the extreme positions the connection between fans and discharge ducts are reversed, but intermediate positions allow varying degrees of mixing and distribution of the two streams. In combination with hot and cold heat exchangers, very compact and summer/winter systems may be arranged having high efficiency from recovery of waste heat.
