Abstract

Device for improving ironing properties of an iron comprises a removable PTFE sheet of which the edges are at least partically upturned above the side edges of the heating surface and which is attached to the iron by fastening means. Pref. the edges are undulating at least in the region which is applied to the longitudinal side edges of the heating surface. The sheet may comprise holes, and protuberances on the surface facing the heating surface formed by the raised edges of the holes. At one end of the sheet may be a pocket formed by folding the sheet, to receive the point of the iron, with the opposed longitudinal edges of the sheet joined by a coil spring which extends across the rear of the iron. When ironing damp clothes or using a damp cloth to iron clothes, the moisture passes through holes and comes into direct contact with the ironing surface or hot plate, evaporating more rapidly and intensely.
