Abstract

The disc brake support casting (1) has a cylindrical bore housing two pistons (22,31). The piston (22) acts directly on the brake pad assembly (5). The piston (31), which has an extension (32) fitting in the bore of the piston (22), is attaced by the bolt (29) to the caliper (17). The caliper (17) is attached to the opposing brake pad assembly (6). The brake pad assemblies (5,6) are guided by spring metal clips with a central V notch which matches notches cut in the brake pad support plates (9). This method of support and guidance allows a limited relative movement between the opposing brake pad assemblies (5,6) and reduces brake sequel.
