Abstract

The press is for marking sheet metal and comprises a sheet engaging roller (6) of which the peripheral speed corresponds to the speed of travel of the sheets (24). A coacting freely reciprocating pendulum is driven between front and rear end positions by contact with the sheet, and which can be locked. The pendulum has the shape of a cylinder sector on the circumference of which are marking rams. The position of the pendulum axis can be adjusted relative to that of the roller axis and according to the thickness of the sheet. The pendulum can be released from its rear position to allow marking and can be fixed in its front position after marking.
