Abstract

The machine is composed of modular units each comprising one or more pressing boxes. Each box is made up of a three-walled, open-topped, right-angled channel and three further walls, each hydraulically movable to alter the size of the box. One of the end walls is pivoted along an edge of the channel base to form a loading and discharging door. The other end wall is a ram which can be set to size the prod. in the channel and finally to pass through the channel to eject the pressed prod. The channel top wall is a vertical ram which can descend in the channel enclosed by the four side walls. All cylinders are supplied by a common source of hydraulic pressure. A modular unit pref. comprises several boxes arranged side-by-side and served by a single, pivoted, end wall moved by one cylinder. The pressing cycle is pref. automatic and responds to ram stroke limit switches. The simply constructed modules can be added or removed to suit demand.
