Abstract
The concentrate is extracted from the high-press, membrane stage by an ejector pump which communicates at its low-press. throat with the froth zone of the flotation stage. Froth and insolubles are thus carried away together with the concentrate flow. The process is used for the purificn. of waste and brackish water; treatment of effluents from biological treatment plant sepn. of cheese whey for the prodn. of protein and lactose; sepn. of sulphite lye in cellulose paper mfr. It comprises a reduces power consumption with a high possible throughput rate. The membrane areas required are small, they clog less readily and have a longer service life.
