Abstract

The system secures two tubular components together, the one being of larger section than the other. A hole (4) is drilled in the face of the larger-section component (2) of the same diameter as the smaller-section (1). The end of the latter is then split (3) so as to allow it to expand, and a plug (5), tapered for most of its length, is fitted in the split end. The larger end of the plug has a diameter which is equal to the diameter of the hole (4), and plug and component are fitted in. It is then home until it comes into contact with the wall of the larger-section component opposite the hole.
