Abstract

A vehicle tyre deflation detector is used to detect when the load applied by the wheel has changed. It is used as a safety device. The detector comprises a set of strain gauges (13, 14, 30) installed onto the track carying the vehicle. It also has a circuit which modifies the signals from the strain gauges (13, 14, 30). A comparator (18) which compares the signal received and set-off an alarm if the signal is greater than a set threshold. When the signals from two sets of strain gauges (13, 14) are separated by a time interval corresponding to adequate inflation of the tyres, the detector is not set-off. When there is no marked time interval corresponding to deflation of the tyres, the detector is set-off.
