Abstract
1430721 Anti-skid braking systems AKEBONO BRAKE INDUSTRY CO Ltd 19 July 1974 [21 July 1973] 32026/74 Heading F2F An anti-skid braking system comprises a sensor I and frequency to voltage converter 2 for converting wheel velocity into voltage signals, means for detecting commencement of wheel lock in the form of a comparison circuit 4, a brake pressure modulator 8, a low peak value holding circuit for memorizing a minimum value of the wheel velocity signal, and a comparison circuit 5 for comparing the actual wheel velocity with the memorized low value and providing a signal to reduce operation of the brake pressure modulator when the two values satisfy a predetermined relationship. The low peak value holding circuit includes a switch 9 which will normally remain closed but will open at least after issue of the modulator control signal, a condenser 11 to which the wheel velocity signal will be applied when the switch is closed and a diode 10 and resistors 12, 13 which allow the condenser to discharge during an open state of the switch when the wheel velocity signal drops below a stored value. The switch may be operated by the brake pedal or by a solenoid 18 responsive to a control signal associated with wheel lock. The embodiment of Fig. 4 also includes a deceleration-responsive switch 20 comprising terminals 22, 23 and mercury 25 enclosed in a glass tube 25 which operates under high deceleration rates to allow recovery of wheel speed.
