Abstract

The connector forms closed loops in cable used in mechanical handling equipment. The cables can run singly or in groups on driving pulleys, and the connector can be used to adjust the length and tension of the loops. A loop can be one length of cable closed on itself or a number of lengths joined end to end. The cable has a flexible coating. A conical surfaced, split sleeve fits over the end of the cable and is surrounded by an outer sleeve. Tension on the cable presses the inner sleeve against the expanded end of the cable. a spherical headed screw is held inside the outer sleeve by a collar. A similar collar, threaded internally and externally screws into the other sleeve. The threads are of opposite hand, so that rotation of the collar adjusts the separation of the ends of the cable.
