Abstract

The device to silence the noise of flowing fluid has a plate formed of a cellular material which is placed against a perforated plate. The cellular material plate is placed on the downstream side of the perforated plate. The cellular material is formed of a metal which may be nickel, nickel-chrome, an iron chrome alloy or copper. The perforated plate pref. has a porosity between 3% and 30% and a thickness between 1mm and 10mm. The cellular plate thickness is pref. between 10mm and 50mm, the assembly of the plates being carried by an annular member with an axial locating flange.
