Abstract
The equipment pre-heats products to be fed into a melting furnace. It comprises a metal column (2) subjected to vibration, and in which there travel in opposite directions a current of hot gas and metal solids for feeding into the furnace. The gas is principally constituted by the fumes from the furnace, and the solids flow down a series of chutes (12, 13) mounted one above the other. The vibratory mechanism (6) can be of the eccentric weight or electromagnetic type, fixed to the bottom (5) of the column, and connected via anti-vibration mountings such as coil springs (10) to a metal framework (7).
