Abstract

The wire travels over rotating tdisc mounted on rotating shafts located in bearings in housings. The shafts are electrically connected to the disc, whereas the housings are provided with electrical connections from a source of electric power. A chamber is formed between each housing and each shaft, the chambers contg. metal which is liq. at room temp. and employed to conduct electricity between the housings and the shafts. Each shaft is pref. fitted with a flange immersed int he molten metal in a ring-shaped chamber. The machine is useful for continuous annealing of e.g. Cu wire. The electric contact with the rotating shafts is made in a superior manner to that using carbon brushes which wear and cause current breakdown.
