Abstract

The medicaments are prepd. by treating animal tissues and/or organs with a proteolytic enzyme in a salt soln. at ca. 4 degrees C and pH is approx. 7. The resulting suspension is processed to give a clear supernatant, which is treated with absolute alcohol at pH 7. The extracted substance is then ppted. by adding a Ca salt at pH is approx. 7.5. The product can be used as such (opt. mixed with other products) or freeze-dried and then sterilised. The products can be used to treat steatosis and cirrhosis, esp. associated with alcoholism. They are completely nontoxic and free of side effects.
