Abstract

An overhead conveyor uses separators to hold apart load carrying rollers on an inclined section. Each separator consists of a pivoted arm (1a, 1b, 1c) and a counterweight (12). The end of the arm is concave (15) to conform with the rollers (40) and the end of the counterweight has a convex surface (13). Movement of a pivoted end stop (6) releases a roller conveyor (7a) to run down the slope. The arm (1a) falls under its own weight, releasing the second conveyor (7b). In rolling down the slope this conveyor lifts the arm, then stops against the end stop (6), the arm then being supported on teh roller (4a, 15). The other conveyors and arms further up the slope react in the same way, the conveyors moving one position down the slope.
