Abstract

A ski has a plastics running surface extending over at least part of its width and provided with a profile such as longitudinal grooves etc. The running surface comprises non-polar, hydrophobic plastics e.g. (halogenated) polyolefines having a water-wetting angle, at 0 degree C, of >70 degrees, (>90 degrees). Improved running, especially racing, characteristics, and steering behaviour i.e. the ski, is more easily controlled than prior-art similar articles. This is particularly apparent in "wet", i.e. non-powdery, snow.
