Abstract

Lifting slings or chains and their attachment shackles carry a label which indicates the safe maximum working load. When the label forms a separate plaque it may become detached from the sling and be lost. To overcome this problem the invention proposes that with a shackle (1) forming part of such a sling, A flat area (6) is formed on the lower end (2) and the required information is recorded directly on the surface. This may be done either by stamping the required figures or by providing the figures in relief when forging the shackle. Alternatively, the plaque may be welded to the shackle.
