Abstract

The machine is for recovery or grit, gravel and sand, particularly those containing metals, from the seabed. A pipe extends between a ship or platform and a collector truck on the bottom. The truck is equipped to deliver the materials collected into the mouth of the pipe and discharge them at the surface. The truck has a rotating drum (10) with flexible vanes (11) sweeping solid lumps of material into the hose. A conveyor (13) and rinser carry the material into a compressed air stream. There is a flexible hose (17) connecting the end of the pipe (18) to the truck (16), or the entire pipe length can be flexible. The flexible hose contains spiral reinforcement coils hooked onto metal profiled sections having a high resistance to crushing.
