Abstract

Polyurethane foams, partic. (semi-)rigid foams, are prepd from organic polyisocyanates, polyols such as polyetherpolyols and/or polyester-polyols and, opt. blowing agents, catalysts and usual additives. The novelty consists in using a polyol premix incorporating 1-10, pref. 2-5 wt. %, based on polyols, of a cpd. of formula:- R-(OCnH2n-)xOH (I) where R is 1-5C alkyl, (OCnH2n-) is a gp. resulting from the addn. of an alkylene oxide, n is 2 and/or 3, x is 1-5 and may be an integer or a fraction. (I) depresses the viscosity of the polyol mixt. sufficiently to make the mixt. usable in a high-pressure continuous casting machine without overheating effects. The foam props. are not adversely affected by (I).
