Abstract

A plant installation for drying and granulating manure etc. breaks up and feeds raw material into a rotary drum for drying with hot air. The dried material is passed to a granulating press from which hot granules are taken for cooling and storing. At the outlet end of the drying drum, discharged material is divided into two fractions, lighter particles are conveyed directly to the granulating press while heavier particles are kibbled and pneumatically sepd. To eliminate stones, pieces of metal from the heavier fraction which is then added back to the lighter fraction by mixing into the granulating press feed hopper. Used for dehydrating and granulating fresh cow manure for use as a fertiliser, or cereals and other vegetable matter as fodder. Removal of stones, metal etc. not only projects the plant against breakdown but also ensures a high quality product free from foreign bodies.
