Abstract

Modifcn. of textile fabrics by treatment with a solvent (A) contg. a mixt. or reaction product of a high-molecular polyol (B) and a stoichiometric excess of a polyisocyanate (C), so that phase boundaries are formed in the fibres, allowing a linking of the reactive additives to the fibres and a permanent bonding between the fibres. Esp. used for treatment of non-woven fabrics made by needling methods, wholly or partly from cellulose, esp. viscose fibres, to improve resistance to shrinking, pilling, washing, creasing etc. Use of organic solns. instead of aq. dispersions eliminates the need for capping NCO end-groups, and prevents complete penetration of the fibres with adverse effect on the feel.
