Abstract

A plug and socket connector is for rigid electrical cables. There are several mutually isolated conductors each of which consists of a single, copper element. The connector is of small size and is designed to facilitate alignment and mating. The cable is brought into the plug complete with its outer sheath and it is held on its outside surface by a nut tightening up two coned surfaces (72, 75). Each of the several conductors continues, stripped of its sheath, and insulation, as a bare element angled outward to a conical mating sleeve (13). The socket has conical cavities (22) mating with the male elements, release and contact being assisted by a spring plate element (9) on the conductor input side of the male cone.
