Abstract

A rope for climbing and pot-holing has a safety grip with a U section channel (2) to hold the rope (5). Necked notches about half way down expand into circular holes (6) for the pin (4) of a swinging arm (1). Its inner end is curved and toothed to grip the rope. The pivot pin is carried in a swinging link (3). A light spring (7) ensures that the toothed link is held against the rope. A flat on the bearing pin (4) allows it to pass through the neck of the bearing hole and the assembly can then be swung clear to hollow easy insertion or removal of the rope.
