Abstract

Plastics granules contg. additives, for melt-spinning into filaments, are prepd. by mechanically agitating granules of the plastics material having a crystallinity of 2-40%, together with the additive powder at temps. 20-140 degrees C below the m. pt. of the plastics, to bond the additives onto the granules by fritting. Used for incorporating dyes, optical brighteners flame retardants, etc. into thermoplastics, e.g. polyadmies, polyethylene, propylene and esp. polyesters. Good incorporation of the additives into the granules is achieved. Filament breakage after spinning does not occur and the service life of the spinneret filters is extended.
