Abstract
Acid neutralisation (by ammonia) plant has a vertical reaction chamber with inlet pipes at the bottom for the reagents and connecting by tangential inlet to a separator for steam heating the neutralised soln. This separator has pipes for gas escape and others for taking off other parts of the soln. back into the reaction chamber. The chamber is a pipe with a coaxial venturi tube at the front of the bottom end. A stoichiometric part of the ammonia is fed in by at least one tangential jet pipe above the venturi, this pipe being set at an angle to the chamber axis according to the flow rate. Another jet pipe introduces the remaining ammonia in the lower part of and coaxial with the chamber. High contact area of the reagents and hence high reaction speed is provided.
