Abstract

The mechanism empties a silo with a flat or slightly sloping bottom of granular or powdery material via a central discharge opening. It has radial arms (6a) derricking at the base of a central rotary mast (9) and equipped with a drive mechanism propelling the silo contents towards the centre. A derricking strut (10) of variable length pivots on the mast and at a point on the arm so as to vary the angle of the latter between the initial natural slope of the material and a final position against the silo bottom. The strut (10) incorporates an actuator cylinder so that its length can be increased to lower the rotating arm (6a) as required, to a horizontal position.
