Abstract

The front of the machine has a flat horizontal casing (3). Inside the casing and on each side, is a pully (6, 7) for avee belt (5) equipped with projecting cutters. A central bevel gear (12) drives a shaft (11, 13) the lower face of another bevel gear (14) engaging a pulley gearwheel (16). The upper face engages a similar gear (20) on a vertical shaft (19). A dome (22) on this rotates inwards, towards the centre and opposing the belt movement. Another dome on the other side rotates similarly (24), driven directly (23) from the other belt pulley (6). The cut crop is returned inwards by the domes each side and a uniform swathe is formed.
