Abstract

Concrete joints with a recess on each side of the joint and a primer layer are coated on teh edges of the joint. A packaging (I) of an elastic or elastomeric matl. is placed inside the joint and a sheet then placed in the recess across the joint. Two blocks of a resin mortar are then inserted into the recess with a spacing in between. The spacing is then packed with an elastic or elastomeric matl. and the whole is covered with a metal sheet flush with the surrounding surface. Method is for sealing expansion joints in concrete structures e.g. in building, public works, highways, etc. An effective, self-protected and lasting seal is provided which can accommodate relative movements and absorb mechanical stresses.
