Abstract

Liquid adhesive present as an aq. emulsion is prepd. by (1) kneading thoroughly a mixt. of (a) mainly atactic polypropylene having av. MW 3000-30000, (b) 0.05-0.5 (0.05-0.3) pts. wt. (w.r.t. 1 pt. wt. polypropylene) polyvinyl alcohol having degree of saponification >=70(70-98) esp. 80-97% and (c) 0.05-2(0.1-2) pts. wt. (w.r.t. 1 pt. wt. polyvinyl alcohol) water and (2) immediately dispesing the mixt. in water. The liquid adhesive can be used as an adhesive as a water-sealing agent or as a water-repellant. Liquid adhesive is stable to temp. fluctuations, can be stored for a long time, can be diluted with water and forms an adherent film which is resistant to water.
