Abstract

A tubular body for mixing liqs. has an inlet and outlet end, and along the length of the body 2 helicoidal blades with spirals in the opposite direction, are positioned to give the liqs. a gyratory motion. These helicoidal blades cover at least 1/2 a revolution of the tube and are approx. 1/4 the length of the tube, the gap separating the 2 blades being less than the length of the blades. The more viscous liq. enters at the inlet end of the tube and this moves a flap which activates a plug in the inlet orifice of the second liq., allowing the second liq. to enter the tube. The flap activating the plug has an area less than the flow area of the tube and the quantity of second liq. entering is controlled by a regulating valve in the inlet line. At the outer end of the mixing tube there is a transparent inspection cover to observe the liq. flow and a vent valve. The mixer is for mixing of a viscous liq. with one less viscous, e.g. mixing manure with an odorising liq. to remove obnoxious smell. It is a simple, cheap apparatus which mixes 2 liqs. automatically in a perfectly homogenous way.
