Abstract

The free-rope type which has two jaws moving in opposite directions along the rope, each having an internal jaw section moving inside an external U-shaped jaw section fitting round it, a space for the rope being formed between them. The jaws are inverted (6, 7), i.e. offset in relation to each other for 180 deg. in the peripheral direction of the rope (2). Each jaw can have one or more cams pivoting on the U-section so as to lock the other section and the rope against the base of the U, and a link between this cam and a lever. The other end of the lever pivots on one of the two eccentric pins of a haulage crank, and each lver remains roughly parallel to the rope during movement.
