Abstract

The drive shaft (3) passes through a bearing (4) in the enclosure wall (1) and has a bent end. A larger diameter cylindrical skirt (13) carrying external peripheral projections (14, 15) is mounted on the bent part of the shaft by bearings (12). The skirt encloses bellows (18) which are permanently fixed between a flange on the shaft support cone (8) and a flange inside the skirt. These flanges have teeth (16, 17) which mesh at one point only because of the bend in the shaft. Another hollow cylinder (10) surrounds the skirt (13) and at its closed end is fixed to the valve head (2) to be manipulated, with an internal thread (11) meshing with annular ribs (14, 15) at axially spaced points on the skirt, (13). The outer cylinder (10) moves axially only.
