Abstract

Orbital sanders for sanding preferably relatively large plane surfaces have a sanding plate (4) which is moved in an oscillating manner by a motor and is covered with sanding paper (12'). One or two clamping brackets (6) are mounted on the clamping plate. The fitting of the clamping-bracket spring (14), which is usually arranged coaxially to the axis of rotation of the clamping bracket (6), causes difficulties, since the spring is in this case in the loaded state. A clearance space (19) is provided next to one of the supporting surfaces (18, 16) of the torque spring at the sanding plate (4) or at the clamping bracket (6). One of the legs of the spring projects through the clearance space (19) during fitting. The spring can thereby be fitted in the relieved state and can be loaded with simple means in the fitted state.
