Abstract
An electrical contact system is intended for thin boards or large blocks an special tools are provided for fitting it. The design is intended to remove the need for soldering and orthodox riveting and to improve the confidence that can be obtained using such techniques. The technique is equally applicable to the fitting of insulating studs. The contact or insert (3) is spherical and is made of some malleable material such as gold, or a polymide. The material (22) into which the contact is to be fitted has a hole (21) driled either through it or partially into it. The hole diameters is about half that of the sphere, which is driven into it using a hammer or a specially shaped tool.
