Abstract

The lifting appliance comprises a cylindrical housing on the crane hook and a ball headed pin fitting, permanently or temporarily, on the object to be lifted. Inside the upper part of the housing are circular disc cams attached to two spindles, one each side, these having a detector finger which is spring biassed inwards. These fingers are pushed apart by the head of the pin as it enters the housing. Below the detector fingers are retainer fingers, linked to the cams. These cams rotate as the detectors fingers move and the linkage locks the retainer fingers under the head of the pin.
