Abstract

A filler pipe is attached to the upper cover of the tank and is provided with a hinged flap valve. The valve spindle carries a lever at its outer end and the lever carries a float, the position of which can be adjusted by a bolt in a slot. When the level of the liquid in the tank rises to its maximum safe level, the float is pushed upwards and swings the flap downwards to shut off the liquid supply. A manually operated valve in the external part of the filler pipe is automatically closed when the liquid ceases to flow so that the supply can be disconnected without spillage.
