Abstract

The assembly element which allows metal roof trusses to be fastened and linked up by timber purlins, consists of either a U-shaped or an L-shaped bearer plate with a heel at its base in which a hole is drilled. The ends of the purlins can thus be placed with their ends abutting the trusses, not above them, and it is not necessary to make cuts in the ends of the purlins because they are bolted in place. Use of this element would enable a lightweight structure to be quickly and easily assembled by unskilled labour.
