Abstract

Air from the first stage comes in through the air passage (1) which connects with the passage (3). The upper part of this passage is closed by the valve (4). The valve is spring loaded (12) and has two rings (7, 8) which form a seal between the cylinder walls and the piston. The lower part of the piston is drilled to allow the air space (3) to connect with the circular space (9) so as to balance the pressure between the faces (10, 11) of the piston. The air pressure regulation obtained by the piston (4) allows the air aspired by the diver to be supplied at the correct pressure irrespective of depth.
