Abstract

The drawn A1 window sub-frame(1) is standardised for commercial production, and receives lightweight or heavy pivoting or sliding leaf casings. It has asymmetric 'U' section and envelopes the wall ends defining the bay opening, with a further leg(2) sub-dividing strata of the inner leaf of the wall. Twin interspaced 'U' section channel formations(7, 8) receive masking sections(12, 15) which clip or slide on. They have demi-arrow heads(14) clipping over chamfer-tailed projections(11) on the walls of the subsidiary channel formations. One leg(15) projects external and parallel to the opening plane, and accommodates heavier, thicker casings. The 'L' section is inverted to accommodate lighter, thinner casings. The 'L' section is fixed to the inner channel for "French" window casings.
