Class 20 (3) A method of double glazing a window consists in inserting a frame d of resilient strip material, as a complete unit into a window frame a, the frame d having a distance piece f which is either adapted to form a seating for a supplemental pane g and separate it from an existing pane b or, where the frame is unglazed, form separate seating for a plurality of complementary panes g, b', the pane, or panes, being secured in the frame d by a glazing compound, or putty. The insertion frame d, made e.g. of plastic, occupies the space which is ordinarily taken up by the pointing putty of a single glass pane. For application to unglazed frames, the frame d is extended at k so that the distance piece f forms a second seating f<SP>2</SP>, Fig. 2, for the pane b'. The lip j at the outer end of the frame d may be omitted. In a modification, Fig. 4, the frame d is provided with an inner lip k<SP>1</SP>. The space m between the inner and outer panes may be filled e.g, with a dry gas, which is introduced into the space m through a number of passages n which are subsequently closed by plugs o.
