Abstract

A poultry feeder comprises a box whose side walls (12) and back (13) are formed by a galvanised sheet folded into a U-shape. An inner sheet (2) forms a hopper containing the feed, and is covered by a lid (4). The feed flows into a manger (5) whose front (5') slightly overhangs a foot plate (6) which pivots on a pin (7) at the lower end of the sides (1'). At its rear end the foot plate is connected by two arms (8) to a manger cover (9) pivoting round a pin (10). When a fowl stands on the outboard side of the footplate, the manger cover opens. By careful positioning of the pin (7), the foot plate will only tip for animals or fowls which have rightful access to the food in the manger.
