Abstract

In the ionic flowmeter the ion jet path is modified as it crosses the gas flow. The measuring cylinder (1) comprises ceramic casings (2, 3) and is mounted coaxially in a pipe such that the ratios of flows is known. The casing inner surface has a metallic coating (4) forming collector electrodes. The casings are joined by brazing isolating rings (5, 6) wit electrical contacts (7, 9) permitting contact with the coating. A fine gauge wire (15) powered by a high voltage (23) provides an ion source and the difference between the resultant currents (I1, I2) at the collectors is determined by an amplifier (25). Power supply control (24) corrects field for impurities.
