Abstract

The heating element, for fan-assisted space heaters and similar, consists of parallel insulating plates or strips (7) with the heating wire (4, 12) zig-zagging between them. The plane of the zig-zag element is at right angles to the direction of air flow. Connections to the element are made by terminal wires at the lateral supports between the insulating plates. The bends of the zig-zag are pushed through holes in the plates and held by special double-flanged collars. These bends have slight kinks that engage dents on the insides of the collars to prevent relative movement.
