Abstract
An electric battery has a construction providing good sealing. It comprises a cup(1) and a lig(2) of metal. The rim(9) of the lid (2) is fitted over the rim of the cup(1). A seal(10) is pressed against the rim of the cup(1) and is inserted in the rim (9) of the lid(2). The cup(1) has a boss(3) in its base to provide the positive terminal of the inverted alkaline cell. The lid(1) has a raised centre with reinforcing gussets(11, 12) pressed in the lid(2). The cell has a manganese dioxide base active material(4), two layers of sulphurised papaer separators(6) and a dispersed zinc powder in jellified potassium hydroxide negative active material(7). A metal probe(8) is soldered to the lid to provide contact with the active material(7).
