Abstract

The steering system for selfpropelled tandem road rollers actuates rollers which can be pivoted on a common chassis. At least one roller is power driven, and the rollers follow a steady track on changing the direction of travel. The steering mechanism has a cylinder which rotates the roller frame in both directions at equal speed. The steering cylinder (11) actuated by a pressurised medium is pivoted at its mid length on the road roller chassis (1) by a self aligning bearing (15) which accommodates angular deviations. The piston rod (12) which passes through the cylinder (11) connects the front and rear frame of the rollers.
